Dad’s Day in Quilpie

Bulls & Baa’s
Were you perhaps gearing up for Brisbane’s EKKA but are now left longing for a good old dose of wholesome family Show Day fun?
Well long no more because the Quilpie & District Show & Rodeo on the 10th & 11th September has got a massive 2 days of entertainment planned to keep the whole family amused.
Friday night will see all the thrills and spills of the rodeo action as the toughest cowboy’s in the west battle to stay on the 8 seconds and take home the prize.
Saturday morning the Show is in full swing with plenty to do for the whole family including stalls of all kinds, side show alley, an all-day bar and canteen, show pavilion and great entertainment.
Highlights for 2021 will be The Crack Up Sisters, Aussie FMX and Let ‘er Buck.
This year’s Show theme is ‘Home Grown – showcasing sheep and wool revival’. To keep with the theme 2021 will see a Shearers Reunion and Quick Shears events held during the day plus a sheep counting comp – got to be in it to win it.
Enjoy the best fireworks display in the west as it goes dark then dance long into the night with great music from Russell Dewhurst and a bar til late.

Mix your 2-stroke and load your bikes for a weekend of bikes at the annual Quilpie Motorbike Gymkhana & Enduro.
Enjoy all your favourite Gymkhana events like bending, flags, barrels and more on the Saturday and finish off the weekend with the Enduro events on Sunday. Categories for men, women and children both days.

School Holiday fun with the Dead Puppet Society
On Wednesday 29th September children are invited to join Dead Puppet Society for either a full day workshop or up to two x 3-hour workshops (one for each age group) to discover the process behind creating and manipulating puppets. Using the Dead Puppet Society Prototyping Method, participants will learn the basics behind designing their own puppet character, using readily available materials to exquisite effect, before working together to explore the principles of puppet manipulation. Through a series of visual theatre devising exercises, participants will bring their puppets to life.
