We know so many people had some incredible Outback Adventures planned for 2020 that have been upturned – but that doesn’t mean that you can’t spend the time you have now, planning yourself a post Covid-19 adventure does it? Because let’s face it, we could all use something to look forward to right now!
1. Outback Queensland Golf Masters
In July this year Quilpie was gearing up to host the Outback Queensland Golf Masters but life had other plans. Luckily though this week it was announced that the competition has been postponed until 2021 and will be held in the same locations.
So we are calling all the amateur golfers out there, whether you fancy yourself a bit of a Tiger Woods or maybe you’re the weekly NAGA winner, everyone is welcome. Organise your trip to Quilpie for July 3rd & 4th 2021 and catch all the golfing action!
Plenty more details to be finalised between now and then so make sure you stay up to date at: https://www.outbackqldmasters.com/
2. ENHM Opening
Exciting things are happening out in the furthest town from the sea.
In January this year the Eromanga Natural History Museum commenced Stage 2: Phase 1 of the Museum (see concept photo above).
This new building will be predominantly visitor services area’s and will also feature exhibition space, a theatre and café. It will also be big enough to accommodate large bus tours.
This is a very exciting addition to Eromanga and the Quilpie Shire and we can’t wait until March/April 2021 for you to visit too!

3. Channel Country Ladies Day
Another event that we had planned for 2020 but alas, it wasn’t meant to be this year. But thankfully, rather than cancel plans all together the Channel Country Ladie’s Day committee has postponed the event until 15th – 17th October 2021.
Quilpie’s Bulloo Park will welcome ladies of all ages from the Channel Country for a weekend of events and activities aimed at being a relaxing and uplifting break from the demands of life in the bush.
Ladies make sure you book the babysitter in TODAY!

4. Virtual Reality
Now we can’t say too much because we don’t want to give it away buuuttttt……there’s a top secret project we are working on here at the VIC at the moment. And it involves virtual reality and a night show. But you will just have to come and see us in 2021 to find out for yourself!
5. Wide Open Spaces!
Being that everyone is self-isolating at the moment we bet that wide open spaces is going to be just the thing you’ll be looking for in 2021! And the Quilpie Shire has that in SPADES!
From breathtaking panoramic views atop Baldy Top Lookout, canoeing along the picturesque Lake or hiking along the weathered gorges and unexpected waterholes of Hell Hole Gorge National Park; Quilpie Shire has the space for you.
So in 2021 why don’t you channel your inner Dixie Chick and explore our ‘Wide open spaces’!
In the words of John Lennon “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans”…. And hasn’t 2020 proved that! Despite everything going on right now we are looking forward to meeting you all in 2021 in the Quilpie Shire.
