“DARRANA” Dreamtime hero of the Dieri people and the Spirt Of Drought
This exhibition will feature artworks from local Quilpie artists Brendan Andrews and Lachy Kent.
Brendan – Totem Carpet Snake, is a descendent of the Dieri people of the Lake Eyre Region of South Australia. Brendan was inspired by his family from Broken Hill who own ‘Amanya Mitha Indigenous Arts”, hand crafted indigenous artwork and began creating his own unique artworks of the Dieri people in 2018. Lachy Kent – King Brown, a descendant from the Kooma people from the St George area, is a helping hand and keen partner in creating the artwork.
They make all their artwork from local materials such as Gidgee, Beefwood, Bloodwood, Leopardwood & Mulga and every piece is unique. Items on display at this exhibition will be Didgeridoos, Coolaman Bowls, Wooden Bowls, Emu Callers, Emu Eggs, Nulla Nullas, Clap sticks, Boomerangs, Bullroarer and Paintings.
The official opening for this exhibition will take place on Thursday 1st July and will run until Friday 27th August. Please join Brendan and Lachy at the official opening for some refreshments, nibbles and to enjoy their traditional art.
